Asbury Church is currently seeking a Director of Childrens Ministry. This position is responsible for facilitating weekly ministry programs, preparing, and teaching lessons or talks, organizing, and preparing for annual events, and understanding the heart of a child, while building relationships and care for our children, parents, and volunteers! Essential Job Functions: Ensures childrens ministry is in alignment with the vision and mission of Asbury Church which is to help others follow Jesus. Runs a strategic Christian education strategy that meets predetermined goals based on age/grade developmental markers. Oversees childrens ministry programming on Sunday mornings and throughout the week including Wednesday nights and special events such as Kids Night Out (KNO). Coordinates and works closely with other departments to create unity for programs, mission projects and ministerial events such as Vacation Bible School (VBS). Works closely with the Pastor of Family Ministry as well as other ministerial and lay leaders in developing a comprehensive vision for childrens programming. Prayerfully recruits, develops, empowers, and encourages childrens ministry staff and leads them in planning and implementing all programming. Actively works with the Pastor of Family Ministry and staff to plan for and develop future ministry opportunities within childrens ministry. Oversees recruitment, scheduling, training, and leading of childrens ministry volunteers and staff. Updates and maintains ministry staff policies and procedures for childrens ministry. Oversees Planning Center Online and ShelbyNext (database) usage for childrens ministry. Manages and stewards the childrens ministry budget and resources. Oversees preparation of all ministry materials for all childrens classrooms. Oversees guest follow-up, weve missed you communication and Milestone Event Recognition (new baby, baptism, Bible presentation, etc.). Actively builds relationships with children, volunteers, and parents. Provides support to children and their families as they transition to AsburyStudent Ministry in the sixth grade. Works closely with the Pastor of Family Ministry to support and equip parent ministry and provide mutual encouragement. Maintains personal spiritual development through Bible reading, prayer, and Christian community. Attends Asbury staff meetings, Family Ministry meetings, discipleship team meetings, and other meetings as needed. Other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, seeking to know, love and serve God. Exemplify the churchs values and uphold the staff covenant. Must be a committed Christian comfortable working in a church environment. Must be an active member or become an active member of Asbury Church. Bachelors degree in early childhood development or Christian Studies with emphasis in Children Ministries preferred. At least three to five years of directly related experience supervising similar program preferred. CPR Certification Relational team builder Proven ability to inspire and motivate staff. Proven ability to conduct crucial conversations to resolve delicate personal issues. Exceptional interpersonal and soft skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work quickly. Must be detail oriented. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in fast paced environment. Must be a self-starter and able to work with little oversight. Must be adaptable to quickly changing situations. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all circumstances. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while serving others. Must be able to work with all levels of ministerial leadership and staff effectively. Work Environment: The employee will work in a professional ministry-related office environment as well as a classroom environment with ministry staff, volunteers, and children. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. Also, the employee may encounter childhood diseases and blood on occasion. Time Commitment: 40 hours per week.
