Title: Sr. Accountant SEG Functional Group: Finance Reports To: Accounting Manager Department: Finance Employment Status: Regular, Full-time FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Position Summary: Prepare financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and SEG standards and review for accuracy and completeness in preparation for timely reporting and month-end and year-end closing. Supervisory Responsibility: Individual Contributor Essential Functions: Prepare and post journal entries for monthly activity, including, but not limited to: association management system activity, cash, payroll, rent, intercompany, general and administrative overhead, and other month end activity for the SEG and its subsidiaries. Assist with the month end financial reporting process in coordination with business owners; review data and research variances as needed to ensure timely completion of month end and year end closing cycles for SEG and its subsidiaries. Prepare monthly account reconciliations for general ledger closing as assigned or requested. Manage closing of sub ledgers, association management system, other operating systems, etc., and posting and reconciliation to the general ledger. Review accounts payable batches and upload positive pay files to the bank. Review on a test basis employee travel and business expense reports for proper approval, accurate account coding, and compliance with SEG policy. Assist employees as necessary and resolve customer queries. Issue, track and reconcile travel advance funds. Train and support employees and non-staff in Concur usage. Request sales tax permits for upcoming events; ensure sales and use, and UAE Value Added tax are paid and reported as required. Maintain and update SEG project codes in Microsoft Dynamics SL, BI Solver, Concur expense module and payroll systems. Arrange and count physical inventory at necessary intervals. Review and analyze physical inventory, preparing adjustment information when necessary to maintain accurate records. Perform new product count in and journal entries. Prepare year-end Audit and Tax schedules. Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager Experience Required Three to five years experience in general ledger accounting required. Experience with Dynamics SL, Dynamics Management Reporter, BI Solver and Association Management Systems (e.g., Personify) preferred. Education, Certifications and Specialized Training Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. Job-Specific Skills and Knowledge Intermediate ability to interpret complex GAAP; federal and state accounting and tax laws, rules, regulations; and systems applications. Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality. Strong computer skills, particularly MS Office suite (e.g., Excel). Intermediate ability to utilize effective written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal and external customers and vendors. Detail oriented; exhibits meticulous attention to detail; strong analytical and reconciliation skills. Commitment to producing accurate and high quality work while adhering to assigned deadlines. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Must be able to perform work indoors in climate-controlled private work area with minimal noise, performing primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and routine lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and computer. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular and reliable attendance. When attendance to Society-sponsored conference(s) are required, must be capable of moving around and working on exhibit floors for extended time periods.
