For more information on Holland Hall, please visit www.hollandhall.org.Holland Hall seeks a passionate, committed educator who is energized by working with students to serve as a full-time Upper School Physics Teacher. This teaching position is responsible for three sections of 9th grade level Physics and Engineering Principles and one section of on-level or honors junior/senior physics. Average class size is sixteen students.The candidate should have a history of evaluating student progress and offering individualized? help to meet student needs. We value experiential learning, and we foster an atmosphere where curriculum is developed and refined to reflect the most up-to-date research in science and pedagogy. The position also entails serving as an advisor to a small group of upper school students starting in the second year of service to the school. This role entails keeping track of each advisee's progress through ongoing communication with teachers and families.Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Teach 9th grade Physics and Engineering Principles course and on-level or honors 11th/12th grade physics course Well versed in next generation pedagogy and assessment and phenomenon driven approaches to learning Values and is able to implement project-based learning and hands on/minds on pedagogy Seeks to stay current in the research concerning the teaching of science and is passionate about ongoing professional development Flexible and responsive to student and community needs Prepared to create curriculum and excited by the opportunity for collaborative and creative curriculum planning Experienced with teaching a variety of learning profiles Willing to fulfill communal needs outside the classroom Able to take full advantage of the flexible schedule to meet with individual learners and provide additional academic support Ready to engage in the creation and maintaining of overall communal atmosphere Interested candidates will enjoy working with a professional and collaborative faculty that strives to provide each child with an opportunity to explore and grow his or her whole self. Candidates must have a strong background in the subject being taught, be willing to work in a team environment, have a deep respect for upper school students, and be willing to contribute to the extracurricular programming of the school.The above essential functions are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. A Master's degree and teaching experience are preferred but not required. Holland Hall's upper school is a One-to-One program with Macbook laptops. Comfort with technology and its integration to accelerate student learning is important to success in this position.Special consideration will be given to exemplary candidates who can also support a significant extracurricular activity or coach a sport.Working ConditionsFaculty are required to report from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Faculty often must prepare lesson plans and meet with parent/students well before and after the above mentioned times. The time required to perform this job frequently extends to hours outside the school day, to include evenings and weekends. Faculty must be present before or after the school day at departmental, team, or committee meetings as required. Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, walk, talk, hear and to visually intercept visitors. Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Regularly uses close and distance vision. Work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time, and/or stand for extended periods of time. Work primarily indoors in a temperature controlled, sealed office or classroom.
