Position Summary The Extension Associate position assists the Small Ruminant State Specialist and Cooperative Extension Adminstrators to provide educational resources, programs and assistance to a wide variety of Extension educators and clientele. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Support the work of the Small Ruminant State Specialists. Collaborate, develop, and disseminate information resulting from current small ruminant research findings. Assist with developing, writing, and editing publications including articles, guide sheets, and fact sheets. Organize, coordinate, and implement conferences, meetings, events, tours, workshops, seminars, and demonstrations under the direction of the State Specialists. Prepare posters and presentations for meetings. Participate in grant proposal writing and securing extra-mural funds and in-kind resources. Develop and assist with summer programs such as AgDiscovery and participate in the Missouri State Fair. May supervise student workers. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong written and oral communication skills. Computer proficiency, including MS Office Suite. Ability to work independently and part of a larger team. Ability to read, speak, and understand Spanish is preferred. Experience writing grant proposals and securing extra-mural funds and in-kind donations. Education and Experience Master's degree in Animal Science or a closely related field is required. At least five (5) years of experience in the area of animal science (preferably small ruminants) is required. Two years of experience organizing, implementing, and evaluating small ruminant workshops, seminar series, and conferences is preferred. At least two years of experience working with limited resource small farmers and ranchers is preferred. At least two years of experience working with ethnically diverse individuals is preferred.
